While reading the section titled “Program Life, Death, and Revival”, I was struck by the parallels to a book that I have spent the better part of a year reading - Seeing Like a State, by James C. Scott, who was a political science professor at Yale University. The subtitle on the cover reads, “How Certain Schemes to Improve the Human Condition Have Failed”.
